Candidates in race to represent Lakeview, Uptown, Mid-City, Holly Grove & Gert Town debate

NEW ORLEANS —

Five candidates appeared on the WDSU Hot Seat Sunday night to debate the issues faces voters in City Council District-A.

The district included neighborhoods like Lakeview, parts of Uptown, Mid-City, Gert Town and Holly Grove.

The seat will be vacant in January as current councilman Joe Giarrusso is barred by term limits from seeking re-election.

The five qualified candidates running are:

Holly Friedman - Democrat

Aimee McCarron - Democrat

Alex Mossing - Democrat

Bob Murrell - No Party

Bridget Neal - Republican
